Can anyone provide an update on the Gideons' situation?

I've received a couple of emails asking about the plight of Mark and Lynn Gideon, a couple who has been ordered by DAS to rehome ALL of their 17 pets.

Click on this sentence to read the story.

Since the Powers That Be sat on their hands when the Gideons were brought up during the last Animal Services Commission meeting, I'm assuming the Gideons are still being forced to rehome their animals. That is, if DAS hasn't moved in, hauled them off and killed them. You see, these animals were almost all older dogs and cats, and would have been promptly deemed "unadoptable".

If anyone knows what's going on, can you please leave a comment or send e-mail? I don't know any more about it than most everyone else.

Hey FP,

You might want to call Judy Griggs (her telephone number is the in article that you linked to your story above...) My understanding is the the Gideon's still have their animals, and are still embroiled in fighting DAS, and the City of Dallas, but I don't have any other information. Judy has been their guardian angel, and she might be able to give you some additional information. I know that as long as they are legally involved with the case, however, that details may not be freely shared. But Judy would be able to at least tell you that, or share what she can.

They don't have to be "unadoptable" to be deemed "unadoptable" by Dallas Animal Control. From my understanding at a recent City Council Meeting, Animal Control deems all of them unadoptable, thus all seized are close to immediately euthanized. Hearings are often after the animals are already euthanized.
